Remarriage and Desires (2022) is addictive melodrama from South Korea about elite matchmaking as a competitive and transactional warfare of power, backstabbing and climbing the social ladder. Seo Hye-seung (Kim Hee-sun) was a middle-class housewife when her husband, Kang Nam-sik, took his own life after being set up by his mistress, the ruthless lawyer Jin Yoo-hee (Jung Yoo-jin), for embezzlement and sexual assault.
With Hye-seung recovering from the loss of their money and social class while raising their teenage daughter, she runs into Yoo-hee again, this time at Rex, a matchmaking agency for Korea's ultra-wealthy. Rex's manipulative CEO Choi Yoo-sun (Cha Ji-yeon) treats marriage as a transaction for sports, and as she becomes a liability, Choi's business interests are driven first and foremost by their stock price, not love for her clients. After Hye-seung finds out that Yoo-hee has her sights set on Lee Hyung-joo (Lee Hyun-wook), a rich CEO and Rex's most eligible bachelor, she vows to expose Yoo-hee, ruin her life and shit all over her plans.
