"Go Ahead" is a touching and emotionally fulfilling family drama that examines the powerful and sometimes nontraditional forms of belonging known as family while reinforcing that family is made from love and not just blood.

The tale begins in childhood, focusing on three deeply wounded souls: Li Jianjian, a happy girl who lost her mother at a young age; Ling Gao, who tragically lost his younger sister and then made up for that loss and hardship with parents who divorced; He Ziqiu, who had been abandoned by his father and felt unwanted. These three pint-sized peas were found by Li Jianjian's father, Li Haichao, a warm-hearted and selfless noodle shop owner who extended his life to Li Jianjian's lost wounded boys.

Li Jianjian's father welcomed Li Heping, Ling Gao's estranged father, to be included in their family of five that not only would give each of them a better chance to heal, were incredibly nourishing in shared meals and support. It was as if each of them were their own umbrella for protection against the pains of growing up, fears of the past, and an era that struggled long enough for them to share the moment.

Then move forward to adulthood, where the past with its deeply embedded scars return threatening the fragile existence of the family they created after so many years apart.
